[tech] swaybar question

Well, let me just say this.
Installing a stiffer rear bar WILL increase oversteer or decrease
understeer depending on you perspective. Whether the change is enough to
be a problem, again, depends on your perspective. I like trailing
throttle oversteer cause it keeps you pointing in the right direction
while you're scrubing off speed if you go burning into a corner too
fast. But, having pronounced trailing throttle oversteer just means the
car swaps ends before it has a chance to scrub off speed. I think that's
what this bigger rear bar will do to an otherwise stock 8V.
I don't know what the aftermarket is thinking. Maybe, they assume you
will upgrade your springs first. Probably they adjusted the front/rear
spring rate ratio so they could spec the same swaybars for both
applications.
Just cause I'm an old fart and have tried some of these things doesn't
mean I want to stifle anyone expanding their personal knowledge base.
So, give it a try. It WILL increase oversteer. But, you might like it.
Just be careful while you find out.
