The self adjusting cable has a metal elbow that makes a 30 degree bend
just behind the brake booster.  The cable rubs on the inside edge of the
bend, eventually wearing through it amd making it look like this:

Then, since your clutch does not release all the way, it tears up your
clutch bearing and makes it look like this:

If you're really lucky, the bearing will sieze and weld itself to the
clutch release finger, like so:

You can replace the self-adjust cable with a manual cable, MUCH cheaper
and more reliable.
