no a/c kit

a couple of years ago i bought a no a/c kit from rpi for $99 for my '87 16v, 
now i'd like to get one for my '88 but the price has gone up on these kits 
to $199. is there an alternative to the no a/c kit? or would some of you be 
interested in trying to do some kind of group buy?
