Crazy Thing Happened Today

Thats what I said.

It wouldnt have done any good for him to have the fan on high if the
coolant isnt circulating. (Remember, the belt was off.) If he waits as
you suggest, he blows the motor. Patience would of cost him a motor for
sure. 

Its simple, open the hood and look for the problem. As obvious as his
problem was, the next correct step would of been to shut off the motor,
inspect and reinstall the belt. Then start it up checking the lights and
guages to be sure everything returns to normal.
