emissions testing

- If you swap in a newer motor then it has to have all the emissions
equipment that goes along with it.

- Based on above, and apropos of nothing at all California does a visual
check in addition to the sniff test. "Sir? You have no check valve...".

- Hybrid cars get a run past the Ref and if kosher they get a neat
little sticker showing compliance. 


Of course it's different wherever you are but it pays to check for
yourself.
