emissions testing

hi all,

I am coming up on trying to get my scirocco past emissions, thing is, here
in MO they will pass you without looking under the hood, but if you fail,
then you get a visual inspection. Basically the law says if you meet
emissions for your year, you are legal, if you dont, they pop the hood and
determine why. If its an engine swap etc. things get ugly.

We use the "enhanced" test here (vehicle on rollers, etc.) and I have no
cat in the form of a TT race downpipe.

Currently i have no Oxygen sensor, I am going to replace that next, then I
will set the idle screw by DPR current.

Assuming everything else is as it should be, does anyone have a
"lean" setting for DPR that is safe for at least 1 day of driving, and
will allow one to pass without a cat? Again, I am not breaking the law
here, as you are legal in MO as long as you pass sniffer. (well, maybe the
spirit, but anyway..)

Since .5 is ideal, i was going to go for .6 or .7, but how far can i push
it... better safe than sorry, IMHO.

take care,

Steve

BTW, the TT downpipe is the only non-stock item i'm aware of, so if it
fails, I plan to get a header & cat & get out the sawzall, torch, & pipe
cutter to make a hybrid exhaust. I cant see paying $350-400 for a stock
downpipe :( Man how I love the gubmint, taking all the fun away from
us. but then again, I guess its a whole other sort of "fun" to deal with
this every 2 years...
