Looking for new vw.

I'm intrested in getting something other than my 8v for a daily driver
because I do 90miles a day on my car currently.  I was thinking something
like an old rabbit diesel.  How good are the engines in these.  I'm guessing
they get great gas mileage and are pretty slow.  I need something slow
because going that distance everyday I find myself speeding a lot in the
scirocco.  For example, for any of you that are familiar with Tacoma, Wa if
you know that big white suspension bridge... well once you get on that you
have a perfectly straight road for about 5 miles that has no onramps and it
has barriers on both sides so its really safe to speed on and theres no
place for any cops to be, plus after the bridge its still elivated on a hill
so cops can't see you from any streets below.  Great place to drive but I
find my self going topspeed on it quite often so I need something less
sporty to control my self.  Whats a good price for a rabbit diesel?
