triple gauge



In my 16V, deep behind the radio is a single red wire with a black (could be white?) stripe that has a harness connector on it.  The harness connection splits into several different wires; the power and lighting for the factory center console.  I spliced into this red wire, since it is only powered when the car is on (do your gauges stay on all the time, because my 12v radio source is always on for the auxiliary power functions).
As long as you're just splicing a few gauges into this wire, it's a good enough source.
