Would think one of the two that heats the block directly, since the goal =
is to keep the oil warm/thin so it will crank over easier.

Subject: which type of engine/block heater?

Hey all, I plan on getting a heater for my 8v this winter. So far =
I've seen three types: the oil pan heater, the engine block heater(the =
kind that goes into the block through a freeze plug hole), and a =
coil-like thing that you install in your lower radiator hose. Any =
opinions on which of these is best, and for what reasons? How much of a =
bitch is it to install the block-heater type? Thanks in advance-

  Rob
