I'm assuming whatever seats you have are similar to the 16v seats on my
rocco.

The back support is provided by a mesh of horizontal wires that go between
the two vertical rails of an inverted U of thicker wire. Four springs
connect from the chassis of the seatback to the vertical rails of the
inverted U. When this happened to me, I broke one of the vertical rails.

A trip to the junkyard with a pair of pliers to bend up the tangs at the
bottom of the seatback upholstry and some bloody fingers from removing the
seatback springs plus 15 minutes removal time, and I had a new mesh.

I took apart my seatback similarly and then carefully swapped the old mesh
for the new. Problem solved.

If you're not a cheapass like me you can probably get the whole mesh piece
from the dealer too but expect to pay $100 for it.
