Don't forget that this will also further stiffen the spring rate as well.
The spring rate is determined by the LENGTH and THICKNESS of the wire, not
the height of the spring or the distance between coils.

This is exactly where they should be. Any lower, and your effective spring
rate will change yet again. (bounce-bounce-bounce!) If you don't care about
performance, do whatever the hell you want. Just don't whine about crappy
handling...
