**real** jack points (fixing, that is)



I've solved this problem. 'Cheapass' Ron would be so proud. I wish I had
thought to have shown it to him and as it turns out to you Patrick. It's
simple, most jacks have a saddle that is held on with a pin and cotter.
Remove this and make a new saddle with 2-4" lengths of 1" square stock. Weld
1/4"x1"x2 1/2" flat stock to the ends in such a manner that will give 1/2"
clear space between the two pieces of square stock. Weld a bolt to the
bottom, drill a hole for the cotter and viola one pinch weld jack saddle.
Still works for other things just as well as the original saddle too. By the
way Al, I have to "restore" the pinch welds as well as knock down the floor
on the drivers side of the new car.
