87 16-valve problems



William - there's no way you should pay even $2000 for that car judging by
what you've said. My guess is also, that if you live in NM, the paint's not
in the best of shape.

"front end redone" requires a little further definition. Struts? bushings?
Bearings? Fender and frame pulled and straightened? It sounds good to the
average car buyer, but it's a rather vague statement.

The mechanical problem could a simple needing of a tune-up, but you should
use the fact that it's running somewhat poorly to your advantage. This
should be an automatic bargaining chip. No stereo either?

Are there any other goodies? Euro bumpers or lights? Aftermarket wheels?

If you're patient enough, you'll find one in better condition for less.

Another thing is (although not the most convenient) people on this list sell
their sciroccos every so often or will alert the list when there's one in
their neck of the woods and would be willing to look at it for you...

Just don't run out and buy the first one you see, HTH,
