a friend of mine is into alfas and has an '83 gtvy and an '87 milano verde,
both of whih i have extensive experience with. they are no more expensive or
problematic then a mid/late '80s audi. they have their problems (rust, 2nd
gear syncro, head gaskets) but are absolutely amazing to drive. there are
quite a few parts suppliers for them as well. if you do all your own work,
the cost of owning is pretty reasonable.

they are very similar to 944s, imo. both having rear transaxles, 50/50 weight
distribution and similar power. the gtv6 though has one of the sweetest
engine sound this side of a ferrari.

I'm not sure I can afford a Turbo. If I get a 944 it will most likely be a
normally asperated version. I agree about the Alfa. I'd really love to
have on but it could be a real nightmare. It's still nice to dram about
though.... :)
