checked out a coupla things today in an effort to figure out why this thing
is still slower than my old 2l/2l head combo (mods w/ sig). throttle
switches checked out ok--decided to check compression and got
215/215/170/215. i don't think the scale is right on the gauge; the 215's
are what i got on my old engine after it was rebuilt, and i assume it's
really 180-190. what about #3? the first crank was noticeably slower than
the others, and sometimes the needle didn't move until the second crank.
tried to do a wet compression and ended up with readings off the scale, so
that didn't tell me much. the engine alledgedly has 35k on it, no obvious
headgasket leak. is it a stuck valve? suggestions on the next step (no time
to pull a head in the next few weeks...)? i really want this damn thing to
be as fun to drive as my old one!
