What makes a 2 liter?

You swap your existing shortblock for a two liter short block. The
answer to your question can be answered two ways: 

what components in the motor are responsible for the increased
displacement 

OR

What do people do to change from 1.8 to 2.0?

Most post have answered the later, because, well, that's what you do.
You get s (used) 2.00 liter shortblock (crank, pistons, rods, etc.) as a
package and swap it under the existing 18. head and zoom, zoom, zoom.
(Oops, trademark infringement.)


My Manuals don't cover 16v or A2 so I can't help (easily) with
differences of the motors' internals.
