[tech] Audi 1.8T in a MKII Rocco???

>I'll bet you that my buddy and I will...

There it is: "my buddy and I"! You are quite
well-known for "connections" and finding "deals" that
are not generally accessible to the majority of us.
That's awesome for you, and I'd go for it if I were
you. However, *you* might be able to do it for $1500,
but can someone living in the VW-deprived parts of the
country with no hook-ups to auto salvage wholesalers
or race shops realistically pull it off? Doubtful.
IMHO, special expertise, years of developing
connections in an industry, and/or blind luck don't
factor into the "real" cost of something. If you're
willing to wait potentially forever for the right
price, anything is possible.

Case in point: I would guess Dahlback built his GTI
for less than $500K (quite a steal!), but I would
think it would cost anybody else in the world double
that amount to accomplish it. Spending 25 years in the
rally industry driving and building 5-cyl turbo Audis
pays off when it comes time to build your own.

And if I wanted to be really mean <evil grin>, I'd ask
if this will be done soon/cheaply just like your
throttle-body 16v project! <chuckle> (Note: I've been
working on my G60 project for a year now, so the pot
is indeed calling the kettle black!!)

Just some perspective...
