West Coast Metric? (Dealer POOP!)

This is what I gathered from my parts pal at the dealership. (Yes, I have
a couple of friends that work at the dealer parts counter)

VWOA, as most of you know, has seemingly been nutty about the use of ANY
of its copyrighted material in unauthorized places. The reason it's been
going on so vigorously is because VWOA hired an outside company to track
down illegal use their of logos and etc. The company they hired gets
paid by the number of suits won for infractions, or something like that.

The word is, WCM was somehow using the VW name or logo(s) for profit and
not giving VW it's dues. VW sued the shitola outta them and Rocky
Mountain thus closing Rocky Mountain down and trimming WCM's catalog by a
substantial amount.

I know that the majority of WCM's water cooled stock was simply
repackaged VW original stuff. In the mid 1990's I priced several things
between them and the dealer (who has the ability to adjust the price
down...if they like you) and as I remember, 80% of the time, the dealer
was cheaper. Not much of a loss in my book. But, I don't have an MK1
that needs a windshield seal. Sorry guys-n-gals.

I can't confirm some of the above because it's second hand info, so don't
e-mail me back to give me any crap if you find out otherwise. I have a
short fuse and a .45 hollow point makes a big hole.
