Sometimes a bad performing brake system needs the rear brakes looked at
too. Adjust the rear shoes and see how that feels. A quick test for you
is as follows. 

Pull up the parking brake up ONE click. Do the brakes drag? Drive the car
(if they don't.) Step on the brakes, see how that feels. Then pull it up
to the second click on the parking brake. Drive it, Drag? If no, drive
on. Better brakes? If yes, adjust the brakes or repair as necessary.
