On the topic of Tranny's...

I just pulled a FN out of the old '82 beater I had because the bearings
were shot (wheel bearing) and the easiest thing was to swap in a set of 100
mm hubs I had lying around and a new tranny (which I still would like to
identify).

So, question 1. Everyone keeps saying the FF tranny (which is the same as
the FN from what I can tell on the gear charts, etc) is the one to use with
any kind of forced induction, so this tranny looks like a keeper. I want to
take it in and have someone split it open and do a rebuild on it. Any thing
I should think of changing while the process is getting done?

2. Any way of identifying a tranny besides the stamp on bottom. The one I
swapped into the beater '82 now has a blank (nice and smooth) tab where the
FN had the identity stamp.
