Re: 88' getting very bad gas mileage



Defrost does use the compressor, but it should only be in short bursts, as
it isnt really cooling much, just dehydrating. If its running full time,
there is something wrong with the a/c evaporator temp sensing circuit or
something with the a/c control circuit. The heater 'sound' should be only
the sound of the fan in the dash, with the occasional cycling of the a/c
compressor (and thats only in defrost mode).
