Quaife Question

I'm looking at buying used transmission 020 that is equipped with a quaife.  
Is there a good way to determine if there really is a quaife inside without 
cracking it open?  The guy popped off the center CV flange seals exposing 
the diff. stub axle(or whatever there called, the splined stub that the CV 
flange slides onto.)  There is no threaded hole in the center like on a 
stock diff., the guy said thats how you can tell its a quaife.  Is this 
true?
