Re: 16V A/C removal, keeping power steering...



Dear Mr. Cheapass,

I've experimented with the aluminum bracket (teardrop shaped) you speak
of and I can tell you plainly..."It don't work so good!"  The problem
I've run into is finding an alternator with long enough ears at the pivot
point to allow for adjustment.  You bang the bracket, move up one
centimeter, bang the lower plenum...thus you have floppy belt syndrome. 
I had access to hundreds of alternator configurations and didn't find one
that would pump the amps AND allow for the adjustment.

Why is everyone so reluctant to use my A/C removal write up?  All you
need is a different belt, a shim, a hammer, and a hacksaw or plasma
cutter.  Simple way to drop 40lbs!
