I wish it was that simple.

I've heard that the TDI crank has to be slightly modified, something about
the crank pully. (still looking into what is required)
I am pretty sure that there will be some clearance issues on the block
skirt.
The TDI crank (since it is for a diesel) should be lightened or knife-edged
for a performance engine.
There will probably be other problems along the way as well.
I am going to spend some more time figureing this out once I have the funds
to dive into the project.
All in all it is not a cheap proposition, and will require some homework and
a good engine shop to do it right.
So far between VW Vortex and Scirocco.org I have only come across 2 people
that know about or have a 95.5mm crank in a performance gas engine. :(
Chris J mentioned that Velocity has done an 8V with a 95.5mm crank.
You might check them also.
