Subframes make a HUGE differance in road noise.  Drive an A2 Golf even. 
Much nicer than any A1 chassis.  THe complete drivetrain is mounted to
the subframe with rubber mounts, then the subframe mounts via rubber
mounts to the body.  Want to redeisgn your Scirocco to use a subframe?
