RE: overheating-I give up



Have you tried bridging the power on the temp sensor connector at the bottom 
of the radiator to make sure the fan's power supply is OK? The fan should 
then come on.
If you are not already doing so, I'd suggest that you run the engine until 
the bottom rad hose warms-up, i.e. when the thermostat starts to open, 
before draining it. It also wouldn't do any harm to run it for a few seconds 
once you've done the initial drain, just to push out some more fluid. 
There's also the consideration of the fluid left behind in the heater matrix 
if the heater valve is shut.  A reverse flush with the garden hose might 
clear some crud if there's a blockage.
