RE: r-134a a/c conversion q's

Dat's right, and bring lotsa small unmarked bills in a old suitcase, nowaddimean?

My understanding (someone please correct me if I'm wrong) is that Freon itself isn't illegal, it's illegal to manufacture it in the U.S. & some other countries. The stuff the shops are putting in your A/C was stockpiled years ago. Once the stockpile runs out, probably in in a year or two, no more Freon. But this guy told me he's already gotten a shipment he could tell was black market (don't ask me how) and sent it back, and he expects the black marketers to get sly enough to repackage it so no one can tell it's not from a legal stockpile.

Just imagine next time you cross the border - helicopters hovering overhead while the Freon-sniffing dogs go through your car...
