I've got a listing of paint codes used on all models of VWs
from '81 through '87 or so.  Was at the stealership on a
Sunday (when my friend still had keys to get in, had the
place to ourselves - nice to wax your car on a rack). 
Anyway, this was on someone's desk, so I photocopied it
real quick.
