ND SHOW:---> rant...rave....review....issues.

First of all, Dan May found my long lost Impact!! Luv you man!

Of the 4 ND shows ive attended, this one was the worst one of all. Most
of my problem was my own car(s) issues. Not getting the 84 done in time
was a huge disappointment for me. Then, after wasting so much time on the
84, it was a mad dash to get up there at 2am sat morning. The whole drive
im leaking oil around my oil filter mount which in turn oiled up my
alternator belt and caused the alt & water pump to slip. I stressed
severely for 200+ miles, stopping every hour to brake clean the belt and
add oil. Lots of oil. Thoughts of oil starvation added to the stress
along with the thoughts of total engine failure in BFE added to the
stress. I was damn happy to finally get to the hotel sat morning. Much to
my surprise the Scirocco.org crew was still in the parking lot. I parked
the smoking beast and had and of Fentons wooden beers. (tastes like wood.
Bleh, that's supposed to be good? Whatever.) it promptly trashed my skull
and some fun was actually had.

Fond memories include Shannon demanding a F'ing cigarette from a drunken
Soltyweasel. Eric stammers back, "damn it, don't call me that". Much too
funny for my to carry my bag to the hotel. It demanded that I drop
everything and lay in the middle of the parking lot and endure 5 minutes
of uncontrollable laughter. Thank you for that.

The next fond memory was minutes later. We were on the 3rd floor while
shannon was on the 12th floor. We get into the elevator and I press #3. I
look at Shannon and he says #12 please. (ding) I press the button and
smile at him. Then I look at the panel and press 5, 8, 11, 10, 9, 7, 8.
Shannon screams YOU m'f'er!!! I f'ing hate you!! So I pressed #4 for him
yelling at me. We could hear him cursing me as the doors closed and he
goes up to the 4th floor. Gawd that was funny. By the time he gets to the
12th floor, he forgets what room number was his. Poor drunk bastard!

Later that morning, after a couple hours sleep. we get up and I continue
my seemingly never ending work on my cars. I finally was able to change a
very broken and leaky aux air valve AND disconnect my suspected leaking
oil cooler from the oil filter housing. The oil leak continued so I ended
up missing out on the cruise after Guido's BBQ. Didn't want to drive it
with it leaking that much oil.

Then there was the issue with the brand new razor blade on a stick I was
using to remove the body kit. (Jim's teeth are very sharp. Ask Brett.) I
managed to cut my thumb clear to the bone. Dr. Guido cleared me for the
show even tho now its swollen after he re-opened my wound to see if it
would bleed or something like that. Took a while to finally stop the
bleeding but that's OK, ill make more.

Highlight: Met Dirk and Tina! Ive been wanting to meet them for so long.
Im afraid they think im a psycho now after dinner saturday night.
Another definite plus was meeting some of the new list members. Our group
grows with more and more cool people. I hope to see you guys again,
somewhere.

Then we come to some low points of the weekend. Sat night TBerk walks
around telling (at least ME) that were gonna meet at 7am. Well, He says
that Collins wants to leave for the show at 7am. I said I thought that
was too early especially since we cant even get in until 8:am and ther
will be plenty of room for us all unlike previous years shows. So I
thought the word had gotten out that 8am was our meet and leave time.
Either way, there was a HUGE communication failure and we got left
behind. Not only did drivers get left behind but also passengers were
abandoned. We were able to pick up the slack but come on, if you had a
passenger come up with you, why wouldn't you take him to the show with
you too? I digress. Doesn't matter at this point since it worked out ok.
Just food for thought for those of you who will do it again next time.

Another low point, the show sucked. I don't blame Tim or ND for that.
There were lots of cars. The site was good. The layout sucked. The
airfield demanded that the show be closed off to cars by 11:am. Not Tim's
fault as he actually was cool enough to let us slip Mr. Wong into the
show while risking at the very least, an ass chewing from the base. Its
just a stupid rule. Government installations are fucked in that way.

The announcement sucked. I was sitting at a table right in front of the
stage and I could NOT hear a word they were saying. Im sure I won a
raffle drawing but I couldn't hear jack shit. They should of at least had
speakers out on the show area so we could may be, um.... KNOW WTF was
going on? That sucked.

Peoples choice award: It was GREAT that a Scirocco.org person won it.
Congrats Shannon. Now, how in the hell were we to vote for that? I never
knew anything about NOR did I know we were gonna pick Shannons car. I
knew nothing and pretty much felt like an outcast there at the show.

Show judging: It SUCKED. im sorry but the guy doing the judging came
across to me as a real prick. He may be a great guy, I don't know him and
I spent very little time with him but, as a judge, he sucked! If he would
of spent HALF as much time doing, Oh, I dunno, JUDGING CARS MAYBE instead
of talking on his phone, im positive he would of had the cars done in
time for the final announcements. He was rude too I thought. Since this
was SO trying for him I fully recommend he not VOLUNTEER to be a judge
next year. Nuff said.

I also need to give props to Tim for allowing me to get a gasket well
after they closed the shop AND he Didn't charge me for it. Not that it
was an expensive gasket but I was intending on paying for the thing. That
sort of thing I really do appreciate very much. Mad props to Tim! He
really went out of his way MANY times to help not only myself but other
Scirocco.org members. Thank you Tim.

I fixed the oil leak problem at the show (I Didn't make a mess either!)
and made the trek home with 3 people in the car in great time. Car ran
great, we just got home a little while ago and im beat. Im sure im
leaving lots of stuff that needs to be said. I just wanted to get some
stuff out while it was fresh on my mind.

Mr. May will post something later monday after he gets home. Ive also had
a great time with Dan. For as long as ive known him online, he every much
the friend ive always thought me might be in person. That my friends is
what makes this list worth reading.
