The injectors are sealed in the inserts top and bottom.  The air coming from
the airbox appears to be used to reduce heat soak only.  The air comes into
the manifold, goes around the injectors and then is released into the
plenum.  Unless there is a leak somewhere, I don't see how this could effect
your idle.  Maybe I'm way off here, but I have been unable to find any
technical documentation on the air shrouds.
