You don't need to switch the knuckle/hub carrier to install 16V brakes. In
the never ending upgrade of my 8V I installed the 16V brakes on the stock
knuckle. Later I upgraded to 100mm axles. The knuckle does need to be
changed for the larger outer CV joint.
Apparently the outer CV joints, 90 and 100mm, have the same splines on both
ends. I just took out an axle (NAPA rebuilt POS) that was 100mm inboard and
90mm outboard and installed an axle with 100mm both ends. So, Yes, you can
run 100mm inboard to match the tranny flanges and 90mm outboard with the
earlier knuckles.
