Re: clutch questions

Make sure of 2 things: 1. you have a Bentley. 2. you have soem freeplay at
the clutch pedal. If you hvae no free play then you need to adjust it so
that you have about 3/4"of an inch of freeplay at the pedal. If the
adjustment is too tight then you will have slipping problems. HTH

hey all-

i don't peel out at all and i rarely dump my clutch, yet i've noticed that
the most recent times when i dumped at 3-5k from a stop (for whatever
reason), the car moves a bit, then the engine keeps revving while the
clutch tries to grab hold and move the car. i've never replaced the clutch
(though the previous owner did and i don't know what he replaced it with)
and i've never owned a car that was in all that good a condition, so i'm
not sure it's normal... i would expect some slipping in the clutch, but
again, i would think that it would grab and hold.

now, i've run tests where i would go uphill and pound on the gas at the
lower gears and there was no noticeable slipping. what are your
experiences? does it sound like i need to do some work on the clutch?

thanks
dave
