It was intresting to talk about cars with my inlaws
from Holland. When they came over for the wedding I
wanted to talk to them about Scirccos. My father in
law just said "nice cars." He knew what Sciroccos
were, but it seemed no big deal. He was proabably
being nice. My wife didn't even know what a Scirocco
was. My mother in law talked about someone in the
family who had a Scirocco which was abandoned for lack
of tires. I'm really not sure what she was talking
about here, but it makes Sciroccos sound cheap.

Last spring when we decided to buy a new car, I tried
to get her to the Volkswagen dealer. She put her foot
down on that. She said everbody has VWs, meaning in
Europe. She wanted somthing distinctly American. What
she really wanted was a Jeep. I talked her out of
that. Then she went for the Neons. My influance was
felt briefly here in the form of a Neon R/T. That
didn't work...we got the ES instead, and she drives
that.

The one car her father got excited about was a Chevy
Nova he once had. When pressed for details, he could
only say he loved the car, but it had one drawback
having somthing to do with towing a gas station behind
him. He didn't know what type of engine it had. It was
his all time favorite car. I never get too excited
about Novas, unless it is one of the old SS Novas.

Different attitudes across the pond. From reading this
thread, it looks like I got some things wrong.
