If it were the same strength as the steel panel, it would be roughly 1/3 the
weight.  If it's the same thickness, it would be about 1/6th the weight.
Can't imagine it gaining you any more than about 5 lbs., but  I could be
wrong.  Sounds kinda fun, though, and shouldn't be too hard.   I've made
similar aluminum panels before, and it's no big deal as far as difficulty.
Paint the outside and leave the inside unpainted for WOW factor.  Use an
epoxy from devcon in the seams to attach it (available from Grainger and
others).  Other alternative is to use carbon, but that requires more extra
stuff and cost.
