RE: Tranny into a rabbit truck



I don't think you want to put a close ration tranny into a diesel.....you'll
be revving too high to get to hwy speeds.

also, IIRC the 16v and GTi trannies have a larger flywheel than the standard
A2 setup. I had to change my CV axles, flywheel and part of my shifter
linkage when I put the FF in my 16v Roc.

Anybody else?

I want to swap the gti tranny into my aunt's diesal rabbit... if the clutch
is still good can I use it, and all existing clutch parts to do the swap
over to the five speed. I know I should probably replace the clutch, but if
it's good can I just keep the fly wheel, and pressure plate from the old
tranny, and just drop it into the new?
