Urgent request for 16V owners: RAD mounting

For any/all 16V owners out there, does your rad mount on an angle (with
the side closest to cyl#1 where the inlet and outlet are being set towards
the front of the car?

I'm trying to fit a 675mm rad into Carrots (you though 16V's ran hot? Try
a TD in a Scirocco - there's not a lot of airflow at the front of these
cars...) and the only way I can get it in is to angle it as decsribed
above. This is great, as it solves the clearance problem I would
otherwise have with the alternator (probably would be similar on 16V's
with A/C, although you don't have an injection pump in the way then.)
However, I need to know for certain this is how they mount before
purchasing the $120 worth of upper and lower hoses (and I will likely buy
a new rad as well for $150.)

The car is an 84, and has holes in the rad supporrt to accept the rad if
it's on an angle - but not if it goes straight across.

If the rad does fit on an angle, how is the #1 cylinder side mounted? The
regular 525mm rad bracket will not work, and there's no slot in the upper
rad support for the brakcet to go through, like there is on the A2's.

Please respond as soon as possible, as I'd like to order the hoses today
so they'll be in on Monday.

Thanks,

Drew
