Front Struts

OK, I am figuring out what the maximum number of swaps/upgrades I can get
out of this 86 16v into my '79
would the front struts be worth while?  I assume the benefit of these would
really be the springs as I expect they are stiffer, (lowering effect also?)
Follow up...which bolts are safe to undo myself.  Not sure how much of it
comes out w/o a special clamp/tensioner.  "...it's all fun and games until
somebody puts an eye out..."
