Re: 16v overheating problems?



Jason,
a water pump really cant go 'bad', as in the pump is turning if the pulley is turning.
it is possible for gunk to collect around/on the pump vanes, but that is highly unlikely with the
way it is designed.
the major possibility is idle too low and/or clogged radiator passages.
raising the idle to 1100 may help. keeping the engine at 2000 should at least cause the radiator fan
to kick on. note the temperature of the air blowing out of the fan after it kicks on. if it quickly
becomes cold air, the radiator is clogged. flush the crap out of it (off the car) with purple power.
