Re: fun with Carfax



So everyone knows what to expect, Carfax only tracks 17-digit VINs, which
means NO cars produced before 1980 will appear in their database.

Additionally, they started with DMV information from 10 states in 1993, and
have added since then 39 other states (no data from CT, IIRC), plus Fed DOT,
NHSTA, IIHS, and working on EPA data and major nationwide insurance
companies. No CARB data, except as reported to DMV.

Carfax was recently purchased by a large customer feedback conglomerate
(name escapes me, not J.D. Powers) which has deepened their budget and
presence.

They are currently hiring experienced PL/1 and Java developers, if you are
interested in relocating to Columbia, MO. They don't care particularly for
car-guy types.
