Mmmmm...six speed!
However, if I could build an "ultimate" tranny, it would 
have a 4.25 final drive with gears 1-5 from a 4K (or 2Y) with a .71 6th.
This would be a sweet setup for the street or track, IMO.
Can you say "stump-pulling" torque...  ; )

 I think that with the issue of tranny gearing, it is important to
consider
the engine that will be turning the gears...
You need to consider the rpm range and torque curve of the motor as well
as your style of driving.  

I would say...build your motor first, and then gear your tranny second.

Just my 2 cents...
