From a practical point of view, there is little difference between the audi
& VW-CIS head - the audi is CIS, albeit with a motronic ECU, and the VW CIS
injectors are plug'n'play.   The audi manifold, which you would have to use
if you keep the audi head, has bigger runners (AFAIK) and the bigger bore
throttle bodies are a striaght bolt-on, no porting necessary.  The only
thing I'm not sure about is the head profile, i.e. would putting a standard
VW head drop the compression? If you are running CIS without knock sensors
this would probably be beneficial as they are prone to pinking otherwise.

Compression with the VW head is supposed to be 10:1. With the Audi head it is
10.8:1.
