Oh, I didn't enlighten you enough when you were here? For anymore info, I
must charge. :)

Well, basically, in a FWD car you want to keep the meatiest tires up
front mostly from a longevity standpoint for the tires. The vast majority
of autoxers can barely afford the sport to begin with and since tires are
a rather large investment, they must be well taken care of.

>From a performance standpoint, there's not much difference as to what's
up front or not. In the olden days, tires that were use for autox were
DOT tires that were shaved. Shaving tires was great to keep tires from
chunking and shortening the treadblock eliminated the tread block squirm
which allowed the tires to last longer. Newer tires of today are designed
with autox in mind and the tread blocks of some tire brands eliminate the
need to shave (Like the Kuhmo's on my SCCA Solo2 SDR "SS" Championship
winning Vette!) the tires. Other brands need to be shaved to be fast and
last long.

In all my days of autoxing (and road racing), ive never seen an autox
tire chunk. Street tires, yup, seen it alot. Brand new tires will chunk
up like a chunky peanut butter cup. Like i said before, I run the Vette
with unshaved tires. The newer Kuhmo's are a different tread pattern
which I understand need to be shaved as do the Hoosiers.
YMMV and stuff.
