Thank you to all for the great input, you gave me plenty of information for
me to make a calculated engine rework decision.

looks I am going to do (unless I go off the wall and decide to put a 340
under the hood (GRIN))

ABA block (found a source)
1.8L CIS Head (ported and polished)
276/289 HOR Cam
new injectors (are there a better kind than OEM...?)
5th Gear transmission conversion (9a .94 to a .75)
TT Exaust 4-2 manifold
TT 2-1 Downpipe
2.5" Pipping finishined with stainless Remus or Borla Muffler.(to be
decided)
I already have done the Intake Manifold Overbore/Audi5000 TB
ABD Racing Big Bore Intake Pipe.

still considering, boring the block to 83.5mm stroke, adding new AT drop
forged crank, titatinum piston rods and valves. (need to explore this a
little further for what "gain" would be...
