Mike,

The metallic squeaking is most likely the metal plate that sits between the
timing belt and the waterpump. If you just replaced the water pump, you may
have bent this thin piece of metal enough to contact the pulley of the
intermediate shaft. Mine did this, and I was able to stick a long screw
driver in from below to bend it away from the pulley.
