Re: [mk1] brake light switch install

Here is a little different point of view, maybe not correct, but different.

I put 10.1" 16V discs and braided lines on the front of Mars when I first
installed the Techtonics motor with the stock 81 MS and booster.
Brakes worked beautifully but the pedal had a `tiny` bit more travel. Still
could brake like most new cars.
That was about 2 years ago.

I FINIALLY put 16V discs on the rear with braided lines for a complete
setup.

Ok...... get this.......
Craig and I go to remove the 81's MS and BB to replace with a 20mm MS and 84
Scirocco BB I had been saving for this occasion.
Craig notices that the stock 81 master cylinder has a 20 stamped on
it..............confusion........
We both scratch our heads..........didn't the 81's come with 19mm MS?
Well, we put the old MS (Actually Craig did while I futzed around with the
rear brakes) back on the car, bled the brakes, and I test drove the
car......IN THE RAIN!

There was no sign of lockup, the rear brakes were definitely working as I
could feel the car now squat when braking hard.
I have driven the car now for over a month and she brakes better than she
ever has.........and better than most new cars on the road.
I have even had to do high speed emergency braking manuevers and no rear
lockup, total control, just squat's like a female dog.
Now remember, the setup I have is 16V cross-drilled discs/calipers on all
four corners, stainless braided (6pc) lines, Repco Metal-Masters in front
and Mintex Redbox in back, stock MS/Booster/Proportioning valves/pedal
cluster from the 81.........

Maybe someone else can explain why this works for me and no one else, but as
my papa always said "If it ain't broke........"

HTH someone out there.
