I can't help you with the motronic. But this question
has been addressed in the past two weeks on this list.

The fifth gear question has been covered many times on
this list (search the archive on Scirocco.org).
Basically, you can buy a kit from a vendor for about
$250 or you can get a fifth gear with the desired
ratio from a junk five speed. Generally, the
alternatives include a .71, .75, or a .80 fifth,
depending on how much reduction in RPM you want. It
can be done without dismantling the tranny.
