I'm Back.

Well, not that anyone missed me, but I've just returned from a 3 week
vacation in South Africa. Beautiful country, but a different world
altogether.

VW content:

The first car we rented was a 1999 VW CitiGolf "Chico"
1.3 litre, carbed, 5 speed, in nothing less than the body of a RABBIT.
That's right, they still make the MK1 Golf over there, and are in equal
numbers to the Opel Kadett, and the Toyota Tazz (which combined make up like
75% of the cars on the road)

The car had no torque below 3500 but after that it held it's own. And it
spooled up there really fast. Broke traction in 2nd gear by accident a few
times, but that could have been the sucky tires. Got it up to 160kph on a
slight downgrade too.
Surprised me for a 1.3l motor.

And yes, driving on the _wrong_** side of the road is wierd, but you get
used to it after a few days. Now I just need to get used to shifting with my
right hand again.

I saw one Mk1 Scirocco. Broken FR turn sig. But decent.

Oh, and I had fun.

**- intentionally inciteful remark meant to rouse those people who live in
countries where people drive on the wro.. umm, I mean, _left_ side all day
long. :-)
