With your setup, I would go with a 2" TT exhaust with a straighthru
Ultraflo muffler.
I have this exhaust on my '83 GTI and I really like it.

I have an account with Techtonics and I can save you some money on a TT
exhaust. 
I sell the 2" cat-back w/Ultraflo for $220 plus shipping from Techtonics,
which should be $15.
The 2 1/4" cat-back w/Ultraflo is $283 plus shipping.
