Re: engine mounts

>From your description, the front mount sound like the passenger side mount to me. The difference b/w the 16v and the 8v mount is that the 16v one is made from harder rubber and will last longer. The 8v mount should work fine, but it just won't last as long.

The rear transaxle mount is not the same as the passenger side mount. I would see if you can get a VW motorsports mount as again, it is made of a harder rubber and will last longer, as well as aid in reducing engine movement under acceleration. The transaxle mount is a piece of cake to replace, while the passenger side mount is a little trickier and will require you to press the old mount out of the mounting bracket, and press the new one in.

Need to replace the mounts (front and rear,
front=timing belt end of engine).

My parts guy says the front mount is special for 16V's
(it's also nearly 3x the price of 8V's) and may or may
not be the same as the tranny-end mount...any guidance
on whether it's the same mount? Any knowledge of
diameters of these mounts?

TIA

Ron
