The registered count was actually 118.

Grumble. I lost out to two '96+ essentially stock Cabrios which bugged me a bit,
and a very nicely done '84 convertible which deserved to win (strangely, I was
parked right next to it yesterday, and at waterfest! <http://www.scirocco.org/
list/wf2k/Media/hires/0007.jpg>).

At least it didn't snow.

Steve, good to meet you in person. Going to shows is a great way to put a face
with an e-mail address. You lame-o's ( :-) ) out there need to get out more.
Let's make every show a repeat of ND2K - more Sciroccos than you could shake a
stick at.

My observations of Volkstoberfest:

-A lot of people think a lot more of their cars than they should. When I
pulled in as the 2nd or 3rd convertible, the guy next to me just shook his head,
like, "Oh crap. Now I'm not going to get anything." Well, his car was lowered
and had rims; that's about it. It was an '84 or '85 with a "clipper kit", but it
had been detrimmed and the side markers removed. Not shaved. All the holes were
still there.

Also, the guy who got 2nd Scirocco hates to see Brett show up. He keeps losing to
him. This guy's car had a Kamei grill and spoiler, and had been painted yellow.
But pop the hood, and it was a mess under there. Plus the corner markers were
full of water (and from what I could tell, a dead guppy :-) ) And from what I
was told, the interior was no treat. Steve was right; his car was cleaner than
this guys.

-Judging at Volkstoberfest bothers me a lot less than say, Waterfest, because
it's all volunteer judging picked that day. Volkstoberfest is essentially a big
bunch of VW enthusiasts getting together. Waterfest bills itself as a big-time
show, where you'd expect a high level of....I dunno...."professional" judging?

-Anyways, Sue, the show organizer, has a site where she is gathering up info for
all the shows in the country at <http://www.vwshows.com> so if you know of a
show or are putting one on....go to her site and send it in. She's a very kewl
person so let's try to help her site out.

OH, and on the way home, I think my headlight switch fritzed; in any event, my
dash lights and taillights stopped working :-( Pennsylvania is becoming the
Bermuda State. Entering it makes parts of your car disappear or stop working.
